Sunday Forum Series:
"Streams in the Desert: Meditations on Hope"

Sundays, 9:30 a.m., Chapel

How do we find hope in dark and challenging times? Lent draws us into a period of scarcity and sobriety, but this work is deeply tied to a practice of hopefulness. As Old Testament scholar and theologian Ellen Davis puts it: “Certainly there is a difference between hope and’ foolish optimism… In order to have hope, you have to see the depth and the dimensions of the problem.” Lent brings us into the desert so that we can find the hope within it. Join Christ Church clergy and lay members in this series as we find streams of hope in the desert.

Sunday Evening Forum Series:
"These Forty Days: Lent through Its Hymns"

Sundays, 6:00 p.m., Church Nave

During the holy season of Lent, we are invited into a time of self-examination, repentance, and renewal. Using hymns as our lens through which to see the season, we will explore themes of penitence, mercy, and faithfulness found in the Church’s rich musical tradition. As we sing, listen and reflect, these hymns will shape our prayer and deepen our devotion as we walk the Lenten way together. The evening will conclude with Sung Compline.

In the Spirit

"In the Spirit" is a discussion group for those who seek to deepen their faith through meaningful conversations. Join us each second and fourth Monday at The Pirates’ House (20 E Broad St), where you can grab something to eat or drink as we spend time together. We gather at 5:30 p.m. and begin our discussion at 6:00. Join us this Lent on February 23, March 9, and March 23 as we discuss various Lenten themes. For more information, contact the Rev. Samantha McKean.
